The Fort Retail & Storage Center, a new development in Chaffee Crossing, held a groundbreaking ceremony held at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, to celebrate beginning of construction. The business property is located at 920 Frontier Road (Highway 255) in Barling, AR. DeWayne and Kay Jones are the owners. Chelsea and Rakeem Oliver, family members, will manage the property.

The Arkansas Court of Appeals has unanimously ruled in favor of the Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority (FCRA) on claims that the Redevelopment Authority misrepresented the future development of the Chaffee Crossing Historic Area. The Court of Appeals’ decision is the third court victory for the FCRA in four years regarding the Historic District.
