Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority has hired a new Executive Director

The Fort Chaffee Redevelopment Authority has hired a new Executive Director – Mr. Ivy Owen of Philadelphia, Mississippi.  After an executive session held at a special meeting on November 13, 2007, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hire Owen, who will begin employment on December 17, 2007.

For the last seven years, Mr. Owen has been the Community Development Coordinator for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, where he planned and administered a new master land use plan and zoning ordinance for the 40,000-acre reservation in east central Mississippi.  He was also responsible for the recruiting, retention, and expansion of industrial, commercial, and retail tenants for over 400,000 square-feet of lease space. 

Additional experience:

  • 14 years as Community Development and Project Director for SunBay Resort in Hot Springs, Arkansas
  • 6 years as Director of Economic Development for the City of Memphis and Shelby County Governments in Tennessee
  • 12 years as Executive Director for the City of Holly Springs Community and Economic Development Agency in Mississippi
