The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center is now open at Chaffee Crossing! The groundbreaking for the $5 million Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center took place January 6, 2005 at Chaffee Crossing, and the Grand Opening of the center was August 31, 2006. Like the other nature centers, this one includes a gift shop, classroom, multipurpose room (available for community use) and offices. Unlike the other centers, it has a catering kitchen adjacent to the multipurpose room. Another unique feature is the wildlife workshop in the lower level that will be used for group activities such as building bird boxes, and could be used for future exhibit expansion as well.
